An excavation on the Isle of Coll has uncovered 3,000-year-old swords and spearheads made of bronze. The twelve pieces are thought to have come from at least seven weapons. The items were recovered from what had once been a freshwater loch and they were broken, perhaps on purpose.

On Wednesday 26th August, 2015 a number of GAS members, together with a good crowd of local people, joined Carol Primrose, former GAS President, for a trip on the Forth and Clyde Canal as part of the 2015 Kirkintilloch Canal Festival. If, like me, you had never visited the Southbank Marina, Kirkintilloch, on the Canal, you were in for quite a surprise.

Our signature publication written by Professor Anne S. Robertson was first published in 1960. Professor Lawrence Keppie took over the editorship with the Fourth Edition in 1990 and he has now produced this new and completely updated Sixth Edition, lavishly illustrated in colour reflecting the wealth of new excavation and survey work.
