Glasgow Archaeological Society is planning a three day trip to Ireland next year, from Sunday, 18th June 2017 until Tuesday, 20th June 2017. The travel and accommodation is being arranged by Caledonian Travel, based in Glasgow.
Our group will travel by coach from Glasgow University to Cairnryan, where we will embark on the ferry to Belfast. In Ireland members will be based at the Carrickdale Hotel and Spa, Dundalk, County Louth, which is a family run hotel, set in extensive grounds. All rooms have en suite facilities, television, tea/coffee facilities, free WIFI etc. The hotel also has a full-service spa and an indoor pool.
During the three day trip we propose to visit the Neolithic Sites of Newgrange and Knowth; the Monastic Site, Round Tower and Colmcille’s House at Kells and the Titanic Experience, Belfast and the Ulster American Folk Park, Omagh.
The cost of the three day trip will be £265 per person, based on two persons sharing either a double or twin-bedded room. The supplement for a bedroom for single occupancy will be £35. The cost of the trip includes:
- Coach travel throughout the three days
- Two nights dinner, bed and breakfast at the Carrickdale Hotel and Spa, Dundalk
