The conference, sponsored by the National Museums of Scotland and Glasgow Culture & Sport, and co-hosted by GAS and the Roman Society on the 23rd October, 2010 was a sell out with 105 people attending.

This event marked the 1600th anniversary of AD 410 often seen as the end of Roman Britain. It was also the 1800th anniversary of the campaign of Septimius Severus and marked the centenary of the Roman Society. The organisation and planning of this event was handled expertly by Dr Fraser Hunter of the National Museums of Scotland. The programme contained an assortment of acknowledged experts in their field, Rebecca Jones, Birgitta Hoffmann, Lawrence Keppie, Bill Hanson, Alan Bowman, David Breeze, Geoff Bailey, Nick Hodgeson and Fraser Hunter.
